I’ve been in the process of publishing a long-form article on medium.com regarding how media coverage handled the New York Mets 2025 season, which ended in a collapse after they fell short of the postseason. This topic covers all sorts of information from different angles, which is why it’s good to be long-form.

Below are some sample drafts of how I plan to get the message out and make a point across on a few social media platforms.

Facebook/Instagram

These social media platforms, especially Instagram, are about visualization, meaning lots of pictures. I created an image in Canva with a news flash emoji and included the Mets team logo to make a strong visual thumbnail of what my viewers and readers can expect to read. I hope that some specific readers, such as professional sports social media accounts, could engage in this type of content.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn isn’t really about pictures. Instead, it’s a job and networking platform where you see lots of posts about job promotion. News is also another aspect of media on LinkedIn. Therefore, I designed this image to focus more on a headline that readers and viewers can click on to read a news article. This type of content on LinkedIn would be really good for people looking for jobs in sports media, especially if they’re Mets fans.

X

Here is where I decided to combine both a headline and an image. Although I’ve been using X to post about newsworthy topics, as I do with other social media platforms, I’ve also posted pictures on my profile at times. For example, earlier this month, I went to a New York Jets game and took lots of photos, including selfies. Sports are a big part of my X profile, just as they are of my overall life. So, that’s why you see Citi Field with some text, previewing what the article is about.

There are lots of sports media writers with whom I keep in touch on X, and even if they’re already aware of this topic, I think they’ll read this article as part of my audience and gain a better understanding of it than before.

I hope my audience learns a lot from my long-form article. They themselves may want to become media professionals and gain some knowledge of media coverage during a season collapse like the Mets went through this past season.
