Jordan Gibberman is an aspiring writer who currently attends Quinnipiac University, pursuing a master’s degree in Interactive Media and Communications. Before becoming a graduate student, he acquired his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Purchase College in December 2021. During his time at Purchase, he wrote news articles for the school’s newspaper, the Purchase Phoenix. He also completed internships at Purchase Television, performing various tasks for the live tech and public relations departments, leading him to make the Dean’s List in his last three semesters. While he held those positions, he maintained a 3.4 GPA throughout his undergraduate studies. His goal is to use his skills and experience in media to pursue full-time jobs in sports, music, or education.
Career Inspirations and Experiences
Jordan originally developed an interest in media in middle school, when he handled the morning and afternoon announcements through the school’s communications club. He then began frequently watching sports after his parents introduced him to the New York Mets and New York Jets. Since then, current media professionals have inspired him to pursue a career in media, including former Mets field reporter Kevin Burkhardt. In November 2023, Jordan began writing baseball content articles for a few sports sites. He has his own portfolio on Muck Rack, where all his articles are available. He considers this experience an achievement and a step forward toward pursuing full-time employment.
Jordan has multiple interests and hobbies that he hopes to one day use for work in media. Aside from his sports interests, he has a background in music, especially with playing guitar and bass. He currently works as a full-time certified teaching assistant.
A Bright Future Ahead
While it has been tough landing a full-time media position, Jordan’s recent sports writing experience and interests in multiple aspects of the field are the main reasons he chose to study interactive media and communications. He is relatively confident that his future is bright and that his graduate studies at Quinnipiac University will help him navigate his way to the achievement of working in media full-time.
